[Yuki's hand was over his mouth moments before a fierce yawn cracked open his jaw. It was early but he was used to that; it was the long commute that wore him out. The final part of the journey required the use of a taxi and the gentle sway of the car ride had nearly finished him. He wasn't one of those people who could sleep comfortably inside a moving vehicle though, so he forced himself awake long enough to realize that the scenery outside was starting to look familiar.
A grin found its way into his face. Long breaks in between his busy life as a university student didn't come that often, much less now that he was in his final year. His first priority was always Machi, of course, and he was planning to surprise her at her doorstep at some point during the day. Much as he would have liked for his girlfriend to be the only thing on his agenda today... other people demanded his attention. Family, to be specific.
Which was why he was here in this quiet part of town rather than at Machi's. It was entirely possible to get from Machi's to the Souma compound but Yuki knew himself well enough to admit that it just wasn't practical. So, the alternative was this neat, unobtrusive little house in the middle of the suburbs.
After paying off the cab fee, Yuki stood outside, carry-on in hand, and stared up at the house for a quiet moment. Something about it was familiar -- maybe it was the faint sound of a wind chime or the string of hanging laundry that he caught glimpses of through the gate. Whatever it was, it gave him a sense of peace as he raised his hand to let the doorbell announce his presence.]

[It is the weekend at the household of Shigure Souma and it is quiet. Or "peaceful", that would be the better word, likely because the novelist was out doing whatever it was novelists did when they decided to step out into the sunlight (disintegrate into ash, some would hope in futility, but the actual situation was that Shigure was at a meeting with his editor and credible sources have stated that he would be out all day).
That was only part of the reason why Yuki can't stop smiling. Or humming to himself as he inspects random parts of the house. On his mind is that point earlier on in the week when he asked Machi if she wanted to hang out over the weekend. She said yes and he'd been planning the perfect weekend ever since.
...what? It wasn't like they had time to talk during Student Council sessions. And many things tended to get in the way when they managed to get a good conversation started. At least here they would have relative peace and the time to get to know each other better. He knew he could trust Tohru to be discreet. And Kyou wasn't nosy nor much of a tease like Shigure. He couldn't have gotten the house (or godforbid the food) ready without their help anyway.
House inspecting is happening because he is not quite sure what to do with himself at the moment. But he definitely feels more giddy than restless while waiting for that doorbell to sound.]
